The Bulgarian Interior Ministry issued an appeal Tuesday, asking citizens to be on the lookout for suspicious use or renting of parking garages and storage spaces and purchases of explosives and electric devices.

The warning is in connection with packages with explosives shipped to foreign embassies of EU Member States in neighboring countries.

Citizens are also advised to be alert about people behaving suspiciously, about objects and luggage left unsupervised in public spaces, and call the emergency 112 and 166 hotlines or the nearest police precinct.

The timely calls and information can prevent terrorist attacks, the police point out, but recommend avoiding self-initiative in opening and handling abandoned objects.
