Bulgaria's ruling center-right party GERB enjoys the support of 32% of Bulgarians vs. 10.4% for the largest opposition formation, the Socialist Party, a poll shows.

The public opinion poll of the MBMD agency has found that all other political parties have public ratings of about 2%-3% with the exception of the ethnic Turkish party DPS (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), which is in the 6%-7% range.

Of the Bulgarian institutions, the Borisov government is found to have a rating of 40%. The police and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church with 42% and 48% respectively.

"This political government at the moment has no alternative. This is the major conclusion from the findings of the latest MBMD poll," explained the director of the agency Mira Radeva.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has the approval of 53% of the Bulgarians, still second to Interior Minister and Deputy PM Tsvetan Tsvetanov with 56%. Tsvetanov continues to bask in the glow of the numerous special police operations carried out in order to crack down on organized crime and corruption even though they have led to very few actual sentences – a problem that the Interior chief has been blaming on the judiciary.

Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov is 3rd with a 36% approval rating. Former PM and Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev has the backing of only 13%.

One of the most criticized ministers, Diaspora Minister Bozhidar Dimitrov, who became tangled in a public scandal over the discovery of relics of St. John the Baptist in Sozopol, has a rating of 27%.
