In June 2010, the construction production in Bulgaria is down 18% year on year, data published Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute (NSI) shows.

The reduction is explained by the crisis in building construction – 26% less compared to June 2009 and 1.4 % less civil engineering construction for the same period.

The total construction production in June, however, registered an increase of 10% compared to May due to a 11% increase in civil and infrastructure construction, and a 10% increase in building construction.

For the first five months of 2010, construction production is down 23% year on year, again due to negative trends mostly in building construction, which is down nearly 32% while civil and infrastructure construction are down 5%.
