Danka Panchova, who was released on August 11 after being held captive by Somali militants for nine months finally arrived in Bulgaria.

"I am happy to return to Bulgaria after these hard nine months, which were an exceptional test in my life. The most important thing now is to express my extreme happiness to be with my family and friends. I will very grateful if you respect my intention to take a real break", she said after she arrived.

Pachova, who is a humanitarian worker at the "Action against Hunger" organization was kidnapped in Northern Somalia, close to the border with Ethiopia, in November 2008. She was kidnapped together with five other colleagues in.

Last week the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry thanked France, Oman, and Egypt for helping with her release.
