A Bulgarian bus with 50 passengers on board has been hit by a heavy duty truck in a tunnel in Montenegro Wednesday.
The information was reported by Darik radio, citing the Prosecutor from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Magadalen Marinov.
Marinov spoke as a private person - he has been one of the passengers on the bus.
The bus has split in half from the collision but, miraculously, none of the 50 passengers were injured.
The Montenegro Court initiated a speedy trial during which the Montenegro driver has been declared guilty and sentenced.
The incident happened around 11:00 pm Wednesday. The Bulgarians were on their way home, after a holiday trip to Dubrovnik.
Marinov told Darik radio that the Montenegro authorities never provided a translator and abandoned the bus on the road, after announcing that they were beginning a speedy trial. Some of the passengers went to a nearby hardware store and repaired the bus on their own.
The bus arrived in Sofia 10 hours behind schedule.
Marinov praised the efforts and the help of Bulgaria's Consul to Montenegro, Iordan Georgiev, who undertook the court defense of the Bulgarian driver.
