Photo Story: Brazil's Carnival Kicks Off, Leaving Trouble Aside

Despite concerns over the Zika virus and sluggish economic growth in the country, Brazil is celebrating its annual Carnival.

The spectacular events across the country, which take months to prepare for, are best known for the performances in Rio de Janeiro, the handing of the city keys from the Mayor kickstarts the celebration.

The five days of dancing in the streets are expected to attract as many as five million people.
