Russian President Appoints New Ambassador to the US

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Sergey Kislyak as the new Russian Ambassador to the US.

Kislyak is a career diplomat, known as the person responsible for the negotiations between Russia and Iran for the nuclear program of the two countries and Russia's disarmament.

Before his new appointment, Kislyak was Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister. He has also served as Russian Ambassador to NATO.

Former Russian Ambassador to the US had left his post in Washington DC in June in order to join Premier Vladimir Putin's Cabinet.
