Hilton, one of the world's most recognised hotel brands, has been awarded "Best Global Hotel Chain" by the readers of Global Finance magazine in the first annual Global Finance Awards. Global Finance conducted two surveys of its 235,000 readers around the world. Each survey respondent was asked to focus on three factors when making their nominations – safety, cleanliness and convenience. Strategically located in the world's major international gateway airports and most major metropolitan city centres, the Hilton collection of full-service hotels and resorts are within easy access to financial and commercial districts, convention facilities and leisure attractions.

According to Robert E. Dirks, senior vice president – brand management & marketing for Hilton Hotels corporation, the achievement is testimony to the devotion of thousands of Hilton team members. Mike Ashton, senior vice president – marketing for Hilton International Co, who oversees nearly 240 Hilton hotels in more than 60 countries around the world, was also impressed with the survey results – especially the regional award recognitions as Best Hotel Chain in Europe and the Middle East/Africa.
