JOVTCHEV WON GOLD AT EUROPEAN GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Jordan Jovtchev, Bulgaria's best sportsman for 2001, became gold medalist on the rings at the men's European Gymnastics Championships April 28. won the silver medal in the all-around competition of the men's European Gymnastics Championships April 27. Jovtchev accumulated 55.623 points, ranking after Romania's Dan Potra with 55.710 points. Russia's Alexei Bondarenko took bronze with 55.612. Jovtchev performances were very strong especially in the events that earned him Olympic bronze in Sydney: rings and the floor exercise for which he received 9.712 and 9.700 respectively at the competition. Following are the result in the all-around competition of the men's European Gymnastics Championships:
