A man armed with a knife has run amok in a shopping centre in Japan, killing one person and wounding seven others, BBC reported.
The incident happened in the city of Tsuchiura, 50km (31 miles) north-east of Tokyo.
The attacker was arrested by police, who said he was wanted in connection with a separate killing last week.
Japanese media reported scenes of chaos, as ambulance sirens sounded throughout the mall and bleeding victims tried to escape.
Correspondents say violent crime is relatively rare in Japan except for killings by crime syndicates, although there have been concerns about a recent rise in street violence.
