Heath Ledger's family held Saturday a private funeral ceremony for the Australian actor in his hometown of Perth, Bloomberg reported.

A service for friends was first organized, followed by a private funeral, Kim Ledger told reporters.

"The funeral will be very, very private and there will only be 10 people there, immediate family and nobody else," he informed.

Mourners who arrived for the service include Ledger's former partner Michelle Williams, with whom he has a 2 year-old daughter as well as the Australian actresses Cate Blanchett and Rose Byrne.

The actor will be buried in a family plot shared by two of his grandparents and a wake is expected to be held at the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach, a favorite place of the Ledger family.

Heath Ledger, 28, died in his Manhattan apartment on January 22 from the effects of "acute intoxication" caused by six medications, anti-anxiety drugs, sleeping pills and painkillers.

The actor appeared in 21 movies and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2005 and a nomination for his role as a taciturn cowboy coming to grips with his feelings for another man in the movie "Brokeback Mountain." He was about to return to big-screen stardom as the Joker in "The Dark Knight," a Batman movie set for release in July.
