Bulgaria will increase almost two times its export of special products to India, the Economy Ministry announced. This was the aim of the Indian visit of Deputy Economy Minister Kaloyan Ninov last week, when he had meetings with Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes, Agriculture Minister Ajit Singh, who is also co-chairman of the Bulgarian-Indian commission, and other government officials. At these meetings the Bulgarian side suggested talks on possible new supplies of Bulgarian-made special products, transfer of technologies for the Indian defence industry and joint projects. The Bulgarian-Indian commission is to meet soon, probably in June, in Sofia. The Cabinet plans to support the companies of the defence industry to increase their export of traditional and new products, the Economy Ministry says. Deputy Economy Minister Kaloyan Ninov, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kintex arms trader, was at the second edition of an exhibition of land and marine defence systems, DefExpo India 2002, in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
