WorldGate, leading provider of interactive entertainment solutions for the cable television industry, announced that Evrotur Sat TV, Bulgaria’s largest cable operator, has selected WorldGate's interactive products as value-added service offerings for all of its cable TV subscribers. Beginning in the second quarter, Evrotur plans to offer the WorldGate(SM) Interactive TV Service to their entire base of 70,000 subscribers. Accordingly, customers will soon have the opportunity to surf the Web, send and receive e-mail and chat, worldwide. "With over 500 cable operators in Bulgaria and a growing pattern of competition from fixed telephone networks, Evrotur Sat TV selected WorldGate's interactive TV service to help us stand out and succeed in this extremely competitive marketplace," stated Dimitur Angelov, president of Evrotur Sat TV, quoted by the Associated Press. WorldGate currently has deployments in 15 countries worldwide and plans to continue aggressive rollouts in both domestic and international markets. “Interactive television can be an effective method in increasing cable penetration, providing significant advantages over other similar service offerings," said WorldGate's vice president and general manager, Dave Wachob.
