JUSTICE MINISTER: “WHITE BOOK” INCLUDES 42 CASES SO FAR

A total of 42 cases have been included in the “White Book” so far, Justice Minister Anton Stankov announced. Stankov also heads the White Committee, which collects further information about the malpractices of the previous administration. A total of 20 of them are said to be of considerable interest. Data presented by Minister Stankov show the state’ s losses amount to USD 49 M, EUR 25 M and BGN 29,5 M. Still no witnesses have been summoned to testify. The matter has already been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office. The results from the Cabinet’s work will be published on the government’s web site on February 18. The commission received tips for irregularities and offences from government ministers, district governors, MPs and the public. It does not take up anonymous calls, said Stankov. It is yet to be established what cases were crimes, misdemeanor or mismanagement. Bulgarians seem to have lost confidence in the government institutions, said Anton Stankov. The commission has to role to restore the public trust in the state of state. The “White Book” was prepared by the Cabinet of Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg and listed the violations conducted by the previous Government, led by PM Ivan Kostov.
