BELGIUM’S KING ALBERT II GRANTED AUDIENCE TO PRESIDENT PARVANOV

The first official visit of Geogi Parvanov after his inauguration as Bulgaria’s President started with an audience with King Albert II of Belgium. The meeting was closed for journalists. Parvanov said that he had invited the Belgium monarch to visit Bulgaria and King Albert II had accepted. President Georgi Parvanov left for Brussels and Strasbourg late on February 4th. His visit aims to confirm continuity in Bulgaria’s strategic priorities concerning Bulgaria's NATO and EU entry, the President said before leaving. Later during the day, Parvanov met with Belgium’s Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, ministers and Chairman of the Chamber of Representatives with the Belgian Parliament Herman de Cro. The presidential visit continues on February 6th.
