The junior partner in the ruling coalition has raised voices with demands to introduce Turkish textbooks in Bulgarian schools as of September 15.
Education Minister Daniel Vulchev was directly asked Friday from the parliamentary rostrum whether his ministry plans to do that as of next school year.
Ahmed Yussein, MP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, said the democratic recognition of Turkish minority in Bulgaria should be furthered with the approval of textbooks in Turkish.
Turkish minority in Bulgaria have a ten-minute news broadcast in Turkish every day and Turkish language can be studied in school as mother tongue.
However, in the words of Yussein, this is not enough as there are no incentives created for the youth to study Turkish.
Minister Vulchev replied Turkish language lessons are available in many municipal schools, along with Roma, Romanian and Hebrew.
