Two Bulgarian men stitched their mouths in the Pazardzhik prison while another inmate went on a hunger strike protesting the conditions they live in.
The protesters want cigarettes, work, and to have their cages open. The two who went to the drastic length of sewing their lips shut are serving life sentences.
The head warden Vesselin Kotzev said that he would only negotiate with the prisoners if they unstitch their mouths so they could talk. However he explained that their cells couldn't be opened, because they are serving their sentences under strict regime.
