“I've been blackmailed for two months to pay USD 1 M so that the experts of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) approve our program product,“ Vassil Kolev manager of AremisSoft-Bulgaria said during the meeting of the parliamentary health committee on January 30. According to Kolev, Avgust Michev, president of Infoassist demanded the money. Infoassist is one of the Bulgarian firms willing to give software to NHIF for free, after AremisSoft threatened to cancel its contract with the fund. Kolev said further that he informed the special services, but did not hand a claim to the prosecution. Dr Atanas Shterev, chairing the parliamentary health committee told journalists that the prosecution started a checkup on the deal.
