The report of MEP Geoffrey van Orden, in charge of monitoring on Bulgaria, will be delayed for presentation in the autumn.
The Bulgarian state radio (BNR) reported the decision was adopted late on Thursday at a session of the chairman council in the EU's legislature.
Under the established EU procedure, reforms implemented in Bulgaria and Romania are being assessed not only by the Commission, but also the European Parliament, where Geoffrey van Orden and Pierre Moscovici respectively prepare countries' reports.
Asked to comment on the news, Geoffrey van Orden could not specify whether the two documents would be released before or after the next monitoring reports of the EC.
