The driver of a Romanian truck, who crashed Sunday afternoon near the Black Sea coast, died after long hours of rescue efforts to pull him out of a ditch failed.
The rescue operation lasted for more than twenty hours and involved a crane that attempted to pull the driver and his truck. The driver stopped to respond back to the rescuers' calls some fifteen hours after the start of the operation.
The driver, a 35-year-old Romanian identified as G.J., crashed at about 6.30 pm while traveling from Burgas to Varna. Police says he lost control of his highspeeding truck and slid into the off-road ditch.
