Court Keeps Bail for Prison Guards over Sex Scandal

Sofia Military - Appellate court confirmed the bail of BGN 1500 for two prison guards, who faced breach of order charges over a scandalous footage from Sofia prison.

The verdict is final and is not subject to appeal.

Lyudmil Anguelov and Yanko Yanev are charged with breach of obligations for permitted a homosexual orgy in the prison, footage from which was released on the Internet and shocked the country last week.

A day earlier the court released their colleague Evgeni Asenov after requiring nothing more but his signature.

The shocking footage from Sofia prison, shot by a former captive and released on the Internet earlier this month, featured scenes of pseudo-dogfight, dances around bars and homosexual acts.

The scandalous video showed several inmates in humiliating sexual action. The scenes were recorded with a mobile phone last August by then prisoner Yanko Vatashki in what is said to be a vile celebration of his birthday.
