A literary classics series, tracing 120 years of Bulgaria’s literary history from the beginning of the National Revival to present days, is to be brought out by the Zahari Stoyanov publishers by the end of 2003, the publisher’s director said. The series will start from Paissii of Chilendar’s "Slav-Bulgarian History" and will also include contemporary poet Valeri Petrov, best known for his translation of Shakespeare's works. The first books of the series will be available in a fortnight: poems by Hristo Botev and Peyo Yavorov, Ivan Vazov's all-time classic "Under the Yoke", short stories by Yordan Yovkov and the 16th edition of Anton Donchev's "Time of Parting". The premiere of the books will be at the end of January with Nobel-candidate Donchev's book most probably stealing the limelight. The Education Ministry and the National Palace of Culture funded the supply of libraries and community centres with 1,000 de luxe volumes.
