Health: EU Experts Assess Bird Flu Risk

European experts gathered Thursday divided over how to deal with the spread of avian flu while stressing there is no cause for alarm about the virus, a version of which has killed more than 60 people in Asia.

A key item on the agenda of the meeting of EU veterinary experts is the Netherlands' explanation of its controversial decision to cope with the threat of bird flu by keeping millions of birds indoors, officials said.

But the meeting is aimed more at reviewing the situation than deciding on joint EU action, officials said.
