The officials from the Libyan Foreign Ministry defined the relations with Bulgaria as “wonderful.” According to them, regular contacts between the two countries are to be established. A common wish for enhanced dialogue between Bulgaria and Libya was expressed by the Libyan Foreign Minister Abdul Rahman Mohammed Shalqum and his Bulgarian counterpart. “After the September 11 events our relations should be considered in a different context – we have to unite our efforts in the fight against terrorism and to find additional stimuli for development of the bilateral relations,” Passy said in Tripoli. He discussed with the Libyan officials the possibilities for renewal of the traditionally good economic relations as well as possibilities for cooperation on regional level. The trial against the six Bulgarian medics charged with intentionally infecting Libyan children with HIV was not discussed. “I trust in the impartiality of the Libyan Court.
