The special concert in memory of famous Bulgarian basso Nikolay Ghiaurov, which will take place September 13 in Sofia, will be attended by his wife, opera soprano singer Mirella Freni.

The event was organized by the National Opera and Ballet and will be under the patronage of President Georgi Parvanov.

Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem was one of Ghiaurov's favourite masterpieces. That special piece of art will be presented September 13 by Bulgarian, Greek and Italian singers.

Ghiaurov, 73 died in an Italian hospital after falling ill of bronchopneumonia on June 2.
