Famous Bulgarian basso Nikolay Ghiaurov, who died on June 2, will have a square named in his memory in his hometown of Velingrad.

Ghiaurov, 73 died in an Italian hospital after falling ill of bronchopneumonia.

He has lived for years in Italy's Modena together with his wife, opera soprano singer Mirella Freni.

Still, his hometown has never forgot about its world-renown opera stager and will commemorate Nikolay Ghiaurov with a bust placed at the square to be named after him.
