`A state security court in Istanbul wants a 30-year prison sentence for Mahmud Ceylan,` the Turkish private television NTV announced. The defendant is the owner of Ceylan Holding which was awarded a big contract for the construction of the Gorna Arda hydroelectric facility in Bulgaria. The indictment is ready against Ceylan and another 10 defendants. The trial is expected to start in the coming days. They are charged with siphoning USD 117 M from Capital Bank, which was once property of Ceylan. Mahmud Ceylan also faces charges for the establishment of a criminal grouping
through which he drained the bank after it was nationalized - a very serious charge that carries a severe punishment upon conviction, NTV commented.
