`A new project of the Global Environmental Facility for reducing the nitrogen and phosphorus inflow into the Black Sea starts in January. Recent analyses proved that these two elements are the biggest threat to the Black Sea,` said Plamen Djadjev, Executive Director of the Istanbul-based Black Sea commission for environmental protection. Djadjev addressed the participants in the final forum of the Black Sea NGO network and the association of Bulgarian Black Sea municipalities. He also congratulated them on the International Day of the Black Sea - October 31, which has been marked for five

A meeting of the environment ministers of countries that are signatories to the Bucharest Convention on the Black Sea and the convention for sustainable use of the Danube is also going to take place in November . Also, the European Commission has prepared a document about a new approach to, and more involvement in, the protection of the Black Sea against pollution.
