BG Radio swept Bulgaria's Radio Oscar 2003 - the award Sirak Skitnik, given out to private radio stations for contributing to Bulgarian culture by the state Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) every year.
This is the second time the award is given to the best radio station in Bulgaria, after the honourable statuette of Sirak Skitnik was won 2002 by the first private radio launched on air in Bulgaria - FM+ Radio (Sofia).
FM+ Radio's President Peter Pountchev handed over the exquisite statuette to BG Radio's President Nikolay Yanchouvichin at an official ceremony in the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, held on Monday night.
BG Radio is on air since March 3, 2001, living up local Sofia audience with its minutely selected, 24-hour all-musical format.
The selection for the Radio Oscar 2003, as it has become know, was made among three nominees - besides BG Radio, those were the local Classic FM radio and Info Radio - after voting at the state BNR's Public Council.
"We accept the award with great surprise and with the honour to guard it during this year, so that to proudly award next year's winner," BG Radio's President Nikolay Yanchouvichin said exclusively to Novinite.com.
