After a special operation carried out by Bulgarian authorities in cooperation with Scotland Yard and the UK Home Office, 124 people from the Bulgarian Interior Ministry were fired over corruption, Deputy Interior Minister Boyko Kotsev announced Tuesday.
A total of 619 signals for corruption among the Ministry's employees have been received, 384 of the cases proved to be actual facts, Kotsev disclosed.
He also said that soon a special website will be launched for people to be able to lodge such complaints online.
There will be absolutely no tolerance for any act of corruption among authorities, the deputy underlined.
The issue has been one of the sore points for Bulgaria's state apparatus over the last years, with people's trust in institutions said to be on the decrease.
