Foreign Minister Solomon Passy, Novinite.com publisher Maxim Behar and members of the Editorial Staff raised a toast on the occasion of Minister Passy's election for Personality of the Year 2003 in Politics in the third annual poll at Novinite.com.
Minister Passy was awarded the Personality of The Year 2003 prize of Novinite.com at a special ceremony at Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan.
Minister Passy expressed his gratitude to the readers of the biggest online news provider in English in Bulgaria for the recognition.
It is the readers who make novinite.com poll results stand out, Milena Hristova, Editor-in-Chief said. She explained that the major part of the readers, who voted at the latest Personality of the Year poll, are Bulgarians abroad, as well as foreigners who take a keen interest in Bulgaria's development and all events that happen here.
Readers of novinite.com from Bulgaria, the United States, Turkey, France, Sweden, Great Britain, Canada, Israel, Poland, Hungary, Albania, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Denmark participated in the "Personality of 2003" poll.
World-renowned Bulgarian kaval player Theodosii Spasov was crowned "Personality of 2003" in the Arts category. He was followed by virtuoso violin player Vasko Vassilev who garnered 29% of the votes of novinite.com readers and prominent Bulgarian painter Svetlin Russev that comes third with 19% of the votes.
Bulgarian top figure skaters Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski were named "Personality of 2003" in Sports. Top Bulgarian gymnast Jordan Jovtchev, who has reached twice the world championship height, swept the second place in the novinite.com poll closely following the winners. Milen Dobrev, who landed a gold medal in men's 94 kg category at the World Weightlifting Championship in Canada, ranked third.
