The first lady Antonina Stoyanova, who is also Chairperson of the Value Foundation, opened on October 20 a two-day forum on `Women Leaders in the 21st Century: Building Successful Local, Regional and International Partnerships for Democracy`. The forum, which took place in the Boyana Residence, is a follow-up of the initiative `Women in the 21st Century` launched in Sofia in October 1998. The current meeting is the final stage of the project. `The main purpose of the project is to create an electronic network and ensure a constant link among the women in the non-governmental sector of the countries in Southeast Europe while the keynote message from the current meeting is for this network to grow and get institutionalised,` Stoyanova said. `It is our ambition that Sofia be the centre of this,` she said. Attending the forum are 30 women leaders of ten countries of Southeast Europe.
