Bulgaria-born football star Hristo Stoitchkov secured a crucial 2-1 victory for the D.C. United in a match against the Chicago Fire played on Saturday night in the Fire's hometown.
After the Chicago Fire took the lead, Stoitchkov assisted his compatriot Galin Ivanov for scoring the first goal for the United. Then the legendary player once again used the accuracy of his left foot to drive a ball from the left flank to the far right post, helping Midfielder Ben Olsen to nail up the final 2-1. Stoitchkov's second assist of the match raised his season assist total to four.
The footballer was part of Bulgaria's national team that made it to the sensational fourth position at the 1994 World Championship. Later, Stoitchkov left for the US where his career continued on its way up.
