Bulgarian companies Sofkom and B.N.K. filed appeals at Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court against the refusal of the Foreign Ministry to give the two firms licenses for duty-free trade, Bulgarian newspaper Banker wrote Saturday.

As motive for the refusal the ministry cited the fact that Sofkom and B.N.K hadn't paid the BGN 5,000 fee when lodging their candidacy for the licenses as required by the state law, Banker said. The paper also cited law experts' opinion that the two companies have a significant chance for winning the cases.

Three companies landed licenses for duty-free trade so far, the Finance Ministy announced August 2. Transimpex AD, Corecom Princess AD and Deneb AD were allowed to work till December 31, 2006.
