Bulgaria's Flag Carrier with Regular Flights to Algeria, Portugal, Ukraine

The recently set-up flag carrier Bulgaria Air will launch regular flights to Algeria, Portugal and Ukraine under bilateral accords with the governments of the three countries.

The Cabinet is due to name Bulgaria Air an aviation operator, conducting regular flights to the three countries at its meeting on Thursday.

The new destinations of Bulgaria's flag carried are expected to secure its positions on the international market, create new jobs and improve the competitiveness of the services offered.

Bulgaria Air, which replaced bankrupt one-time national carrier Balkan Airlines, now flies to 17 destinations.

Regular flights between the capitals of Bulgaria and Russia were restored on June 1, 2003. In May it started flying to Lisbon and Amsterdam and is expected to open two new lines - to Dubai and Kuwait - till the end of the year.
