The political project “Progressive Bulgaria,” associated with President Rumen Radev’s circle, has officially begun the procedure for forming a new political party, according to an announcement from the coalition. The initiative was accompanied by the release of a founding declaration adopted during a meeting held in Sofia on March 25.

The document marks the start of a signature-gathering campaign aimed at recruiting founding members. Membership is open to all Bulgarian citizens with voting rights, who can join by completing and signing a standardized declaration form approved by the initiative committee.

An organizing committee has been formed to oversee the process, although its members have not been publicly disclosed. The group has called on supporters and like-minded citizens to participate in establishing the party in line with Bulgaria’s Law on Political Parties. However, no information has been provided about who would lead the future political formation.

The founding declaration presents an assessment of the country’s current political situation, highlighting what it describes as institutional deterioration, entrenched corruption, and widening distance between state structures and society. It argues that the political system has weakened state authority, increased institutional dependence, and eroded public confidence.

Particular criticism is directed at the judiciary, security institutions, and constitutional amendments adopted in 2023, which the document claims have disrupted the balance between branches of power. These changes are portrayed as contributing to systemic instability.

The text also refers to the decision to introduce the euro without a referendum, presenting it as a contested political step. It further mentions the protests in November 2025, describing them as a public reaction against the existing governance model and broader dissatisfaction with the political establishment.

The new political initiative outlines its guiding principles as freedom, solidarity, and justice. It states its intention to strengthen the rule of law, ensure an independent judiciary, and protect the public interest.

Among its declared priorities are economic growth, social equity, reducing regional disparities, and improving national infrastructure, positioning the project as a reform-oriented alternative within Bulgaria’s political landscape.
