`Legislation amendments should be made to improve the business climate in this country and to attract more investment,` Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov said on September 27 at the opening of the `First International Investments, Business and Law conference`. Justice Minister Anton Stankov talked about the need for harmonising Bulgaria`s legislation with that of the European Union.

The director of the customs in Kalotina, Ivan Ilchov, was appointed to temporarily control the operation of the three big customs divisions in Southwest Bulgaria: Kulata, Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil.

The manager of Mizia AD of Polski Trambesh, Yordan Marinov, appealed the judgement of the regional court. The Court declared the company bankrupt. The judgement was prompted by the cannery`s permanent financial difficulties and the BGN 381,857 debts to the budget, the employers, the Central Cooperative Bank, and 46 suppliers.
