Bulgarian children gathered in the country's capital Sofia to draw pictures on the asphalt as part of the "Bulgaria for Peace" assembly Saturday. Bulgaria's President Georgy Parvanov, Education Minister Vladimir Atanassov and many other top officials joined the event.
Seven Bulgarian children that achieved significant results at sports, arts and science received awards from Bulgaria's President and US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Pardew.
To mark the holiday three new bells were gifted to the "Kambanite" (The Bells) monument in the outskirts of Sofia. The new bells come from the Philippines, Bahrain and Thailand and make for a total of ninety-two bells at the monument so far.
The holiday is a traditional project of popular Bulgarian Child's assembly "Flag of Peace", supported by the state and many non-governmental organizations and private companies.
