In connection with the increase in the incidence of acute respiratory diseases and influenza in the territory of Sofia region, an influenza epidemic has been declared, and temporary anti-epidemic measures are being introduced for the period from January 20 to 27.

Classes are suspended in schools in attendance form on the territory of the Sofia region for the period from January 23 to 27, inclusive.

The districts in the country where an influenza epidemic has been declared are as follows: Dobrich (January 20-25), Plovdiv (January 19-30), Lovech (January 18-24), Pazardzhik (January 18-24), Gabrovo (January 18- January 24), Stara Zagora (January 17-23) and Shumen (January 13-18). As of January 19, the announced epidemic situation in the Shumen region is considered canceled. Burgas is another city in which the epidemic situation was canceled.

The temporary anti-epidemic measures in the Sofia region, in relation to the health system, include: suspension of planned consultations of pregnant women and children, suspension of preventive examinations, mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations in outpatient care. Visits to medical institutions are also temporarily suspended. The conduct of a daily filter in children's facilities is being strengthened, and sick staff members are not allowed to work. Medical facilities should strictly comply with the requirements of Ordinance 3/08.05.2013 for the approval of a medical standard for the prevention and control of nosocomial infections, including strengthening access control for outsiders, wearing protective face masks, disinfection.
