Sofia District central heating company, Toplofikatsia Sofia, wants the heating and hot water prices to be increased by 15% from July, BNR reported, citing the applications of district heating firm published on the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission's (KEVR) website.

They also insist on raising by 32% the price of the electricity generated by it in a combined way.

Other companies insist that the price of heating should be higher by between 5 and 71%.

By the end of last month, all companies had to submit to KEVR their demands for a change in the prices of their heat and electricity production.

In a letter Toplofikatsia Sofia has asked the energy regulator for a postponement of several days, and the prices requested by it become only clear now after they have been published by the Commission.

Plovdiv District Heating, which is the second largest, announced at the end of March that it would request an increase in its heat by 23%.

The biggest price jump was demanded by the district heating in Veliko Tarnovo - by 71%, and in Pernik - by 61%. The company in Vratsa wants to have the increase by 41%, in Burgas by 1/3 and in Pleven by 16%. The least price rise requested the district heating company in Varna - by 7%, and the company in Sliven - 5%.

In the case of high-tech electricity production, requests for appreciation range between 17 and 40%. These applications from the district heating regulator will be considered in June. However, previous practice has indicated that companies want much higher prices than those which KEVR eventually approves.
