Bush to Request War Budget

Politics | March 24, 2003, Monday // 00:00

President Bush is expected to formally address the cost of war in Iraq on Monday afternoon. He will then submit his supplemental budget request to Congress on Tuesday.

Bush is likely to request between USD 70 B and USD 75 B as a supplemental to the 2003 fiscal budget, according to the White House.

The president, who is convening his National Economic Council prior to the White House meeting with appropriators, comes at a time when public support for the troops is strong.

About 70 percent of Americans support war, though hope that it would be quick started to wane over the weekend, according to several polls published Sunday, Fox News reported.
