The United States has "credible evidence that Russian companies have provided assistance and prohibited hardware to the Iraqi regime," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer says.

Earlier on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov rejected the US accusations that Moscow provided Iraq with Russian weapons.

"Russia strictly respects all international obligations and it hasn't delivered to Iraq any equipment, including military one, which would be a violation to the sanctions regime," he added.
