Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
Illegal trade in arms and people, scenes of violence and live murders – all this is a reality, but on the so-called DARKNET or dark web on the Internet.
A student from the National Military University infiltrated it, using his skills not to be tracked, and created a film that would be included in the curriculum of the National Security major.
The director and screenwriter of the film about the Dark Web is cadet Genadi Dimitrov. He made the video to share it with friends and colleagues. He penetrated quite deep into the Dark Internet, where he had to use his knowledge to defend himself against a hacking attack.
"The entry itself is made via installing another operating system. In my case, I used three. In case I had a breach in the system, I could film and show it," Genadi says.
In his 40-minute film, First Sergeant Todorov tells stories of an American boy and girl who have failed to protect themselves and have fallen victims to psychological harassment by hackers who guard the Dark Internet. Some of the sites the cadet came across were really sinister.
"What worries me most is that there are such sites as "red rooms." These are sites that broadcast torture and murder live," he adds.
The payment was made in untraceable cryptocurrencies. With them, anyone can order drugs, weapons, hitmen, kidnapping people. Seeing the film of First Sergeant Genadi Dimitrov, the management of the military university included it in the training program for students of all majors.
"As people who are going to deal with national security, they have to be prepared for everything. We live in very strange times. Much of our lives we spend online. And it is of great importance that they be able to assess and evaluate situations. To protect themselves. And being on alert themselves – they also protect the state", says Brigadier General Ivan Malamov – Head of The Levski National Military University.
