There have been no threats of terror acts on the territory of Bulgaria since the war in Iraq started, General Vassil Vasssilev, Chief of the National Police Service, announced before the joint meeting of the parliamentary defense and internal order committees.

He added that no heavy crimes have been committed in Bulgaria since the start of the attack. General Vassilev assured that the security of strategic sites, including N-plant Kozloduy, and Burgas refinery, is under control.

The interior and defense ministers, deputy foreign ministers, heads of the national police, counterintelligence and intelligence services, as well as the Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Armed Forces attended the meeting.

Interior Minister Petkanov reiterated that there is no cause for worry over the latest developments in Iraq.

Security has been tightened around Denmark's Embassy at the request of diplomats from Copenhagen. A patrolman is guarding in front of Germany's Embassy.

Twenty-eight embassies in Sofia have requested additional security after the beginning of the attacks against Iraq but the Bulgarian Interior Ministry doesn't have the necessary resources to satisfy all.
