FINLAND EXPECTS LESS SUPPORT IN ENLARGED EU

The structural and regional support to the European Union member countries will be reduced if the Union is enlarged, according to Finnish estimates. The Finnish Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen has said that the support will be reduced by a third if the EU has ten new member countries, but it may be reduced further if Bulgaria and Romania also are accepted as members, reported the Finnish teletext news.
