The Miss Bulgaria casting thrown this weekend saw massive turnout as girls from all parts of the country flocked to Sofia to apply for participation in the beauty contest. The selection was organized by fashion model agencies Visage. If seeded, the candidates get the right to take part in the Miss Bulgaria contest which winner will represent the country at the next Miss Europe event.
The organizers of the casting considered Bulgarian beauties aged between 17 and 25 who have not yet heard the wedding bells. The candidates that numbered more than 300 underwent brief interview and a measurement session. Only forty girls will be allowed to the glamorous event.
The exact date of the contest is not yet set. It is expected to take place either in April or in May.
The beauty contests gained popularity in Bulgaria after the fall of communism in Bulgaria thirteen years ago. The most successful Miss Bulgaria is Evgenia Kalkandzhieva - the chief of the Visage agency that currently runs the contest in the country. She was rated sixth at the international Miss World contest.
