Bulgaria: Bulgaria is Opposed to Military Intervention in Venezuela, said Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva

Bulgaria does not support any military intervention in Venezuela. This was said by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva to Darik Radio. She expressed hope that the scenario from the Middle East would not be repeated in the South American country.

The dispute over the introduction of humanitarian aid - food and medicine - from the United States is expected to fuel the situation in Venezuela, hours after the "concert war" that President Nicholas Maduro and President-in-Office Juan Guido began. The Chavez authorities have partially closed the border with Colombia that night, and later the one with Brazil.

"The situation is already quite controversial and escalating, the call is for democratic elections and the Venezuelans to decide who to preside," Zaharieva said.

She also said that for the first time in 80 years historians from Northern Macedonia have said that there is a Medieval Bulgarian state. The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that this week the participants in the committees of Bulgaria and northern Macedonia had a fourth meeting.

"The most important thing is what will be written in textbooks and what we will teach our children - this is the main purpose of the commission," Zaharieva explained and specified that for the time being the Neighborhood Agreement will not have to be changed to ensure, that Northern Macedonia will not change its decision.

According to her, the infrastructure between the two countries needs to improve. Among the main problems, she pointed to the lack of a rail link. The interest of Bulgarian companies in investments in northern Macedonia has doubled in recent months.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that Bulgaria does not intend to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as did the United States and several other countries.
