February 14 and 15 will be declared mourning days due to the severe crash that happened on the Skopje-Tetovo road near Carpalak, reports the Skopje TV MTM.
14 people died in an incident on the Skopje-Tetovo road when a 50-passenger bus turned over near the village of Laskartsi, moving on the new road to the village of Boyane. Among the victims is the son of a member of the Social Democratic Alliance of Macedonia, local media reported. Six are in severe condition with danger to life.
Witnesses told Telma Television that the situation around the tragedy was terrible. Even before the arrival of the Rapid Assistance teams, the indigenous people helped the victims.
"A tough night full of great pain and sadness. I have no words that can be enough comforting for the families of our fellow citizens who have tragically lost their lives tonight in the severe crash, "Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said. He is expected today to visit the wounded at the accident.
In the night, the scene of the incident was cut off, and the inspection and extraction of the bus continues today. According to the initial inspection information, the incident happened in the afternoon when a bus with Gostivar's registration numbers crossed the protective fence on the opposite side of the highway, then deviated from the road and overturned near the village of Laskartsi.
"TV 21" reports that the Macedonian Prosecutor's Office has asked for an analysis of the blood and urine of the bus driver. In order to determine the causes of the incident, the prosecutor will issue autopsy orders to deceased persons as well as an extraordinary technical inspection of the vehicle.
"I express condolences to the relatives of the victims and the recent rescue of the victims," Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov wrote in his social networking profile.
