May Weather Rollercoaster: Bulgaria's Temperature Swings and Precipitation Patterns
As Bulgaria transitions into May, meteorologists predict a rollercoaster of temperatures, ranging from autumnal lows to summery highs across the country.
On the first day of the new week in the morning hours it will be mostly sunny and warm in most of the country. Even before noon over northern Bulgaria, and later in the day, even over the South, will begin the development of cumulus clouds. In many places there will be rainfall and thunderstorms, there will also be hailstorms, meteorologists predict.
The maximum temperatures will be between 28 and 33 degrees, in Sofia - about 28 degrees. Overnight, rainfall will continue, in the Eastern Rhodopes will be significant.
Yellow code has been declared almost all over the country. Without warning of dangerous weather phenomena are only the districts of Vidin, Montana, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Dobrich, Varna and Burgas.
For the other 21 districts in the country, a yellow code for rainfall and thunder is in force. In these areas there will be rainfall, thunderstorms and local hailstorms throughout the day. Expected rainfall will reach 20 liters / sq.m. In the districts of Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan are expected even more abundant rainfalls, up to 25 l / sq m in individual regions and more. In the mountains around and in the afternoon there will be cumulus-rain clouds, there will be short-term rains and thunder. A mild to moderate western wind blows on the ridges. The maximum temperature at a height of 1200 m will be about 24 degrees, at 2000 m - about 17 degrees.
Above the Black Sea, around and after noon, there will be cumulus-rain clouds, there will be short-lasting rains and thunder. There will be gentle southeast wind. Maximum air temperatures will be around 27-29 degrees. The sea water temperature is 26-27 degrees, the excitement of the sea will be 2 bales.
During the week, rain will continue in many places in the country, accompanied by thunderstorms. There are conditions for intensive phenomena, significant rainfall, and hailstorms. The most massive rainfall will be on Tuesday, when the probability of significant quantities, mainly in places in Northern Bulgaria and the eastern part of the Rhodope Mountains, is greatest, the meteorologists report.
From north-northwest, in eastern Bulgaria later and from the northeast, relatively cool air will penetrate. Temperatures will drop, most notably on Tuesday, when the maximum will be between 23 and 28 degrees.
From Wednesday there will also be sunny hours, mainly before noon; a slow rise in temperatures will begin, but until the end of the period, especially in the eastern regions, will remain relatively cool for the end of July.
