Bulgaria: The EU Grants Additional Funds to Spain and Greece to Handle Migration

The European Commission has announced that it is urgently granting additional funds to Greece and Spain to improve the conditions in the migratory camps on their land.

€ 25.6 million will be earmarked for Spain to support the camps in Ceuta and Melilla. Greece will receive € 20 million for Lesbos island migrants.

The Commission notes that it has so far provided over EUR 1 billion in emergency aid for migrants. These funds have been shared between Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Sweden and Spain. In total, for migration-related issues, the EU has spent nearly 11 billion euros in the last four years, including border guards.
